Good afternoon Pathway families,

I would like to thank the students, parents, staff and community for welcoming me on your wonderful campus here at Pathway; I am honored to join such a talented team. I am eager to serve our school with a passion and focus that builds a respectful climate of trust while focusing on academic excellence.

My commitment is to ensure every child receives a world class education from a professional educator who provides bell-to-bell rigor with relevance. I am looking forward to continue meeting students, parents and community members as we begin our 2017-2018 school year. We will strive to be a school where every child is known and personally understood.

Prior to being named Campus Director and High School Principal at Sequoia Pathway Academy, I served as the College Campus Chair for the College of Education at the University of Phoenix.

In my over 20 years serving students and faculty in education, I also served as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, district director and University chair. I received my B.A. in Elementary Education from Prescott College, a M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University, and a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. In 2009, I also completed my Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Innovation from Arizona State University.

My wife Kristen and I enjoy spending time with our family, grilling food and enjoying the warm Arizona weather outdoors. We are looking forward to meeting each and every one of you as we welcome your input and ideas in a joined effort to continue the level of excellence on this campus.

Here at Pathway, we are committed to building strong trustworthy relationships with our parents and community by having a welcoming environment where parents and the community feels valued and supported. I look forward to a successful year for our students and staff.

Thank you,
Dr. Alfonso Alva
