Principal’s Message

From Elementary Principal, Rachael Lay

July 23rd, 2018

Dear Parents and Families,

Welcome Back! This morning marks the 10th year that Sequoia Pathway Academy has been in Maricopa, AZ. It was great to see all the families this morning.

This week we are allowing parents to walk their students to the playground. On Monday, July 30th all students will need to walk themselves to the playground. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation.

This week we are under a Heat Advisory and are asking all parents to send their students with water bottles that have a secure top. The students are able to refill their bottles as needed. We also will be having outdoor recess in the mornings and shortening lunch recess. Their afternoon recess will be inside.

We are asking that parents not to bring pets on campus. The Health Department regulates that only service animals should be on campus. Please check into the office if you are bringing a service animal onto campus.

I would like to remind all families to follow the parking lot expectations:

1. The speed limit is 5 miles.
2. There are no left turns onto Porter Road.
3. If you are in the drive line you should not get out of your car (a teacher or other staff member will assist your child into the car).
4. If you are in the drive line and are a parent of K-3 please place your pick up sign in the windshield.
5. Use the cross walks.

Dear Parents/Guardians:

What a week! We are so happy to see our teachers and students back on campus, ready to finish the year strong. There are only 13 school days left- they will be busy as we wrap up end of year projects, benchmarks, AP exams, and finals.

Last night was a historical night for the Pathway Pumas, as junior high baseball defeated ASU Prep to win their first ever state title! We are so proud of these boys, not just for their efforts on the field, but for their commitment to being scholar athletes and focusing on academics all throughout the season. Congratulations to Coach Braybrooks and the JH team!

Tomorrow night is another big night for Puma Athletics as our Varsity Baseball team competes for their 2nd state title, playing ALA Gilbert in Surprise on Saturday at 6pm. If you’re able to make the drive, we’d love to have as much support as possible at the game.

Monday May 7th is an important day- grades 7-12 will begin benchmark testing, and the AP Psychology exam will take place at noon. Benchmarks continue through Thursday, and the AP Literature and Composition exam will take place on Wednesday at 8am.

Next week a letter will be sent home to families with details of the finals week schedule; finals for grades 7-11 will take place May 16th and 17th.

Important Dates (Dates for Seniors are in Bold)
• May 9th - Puma Sports Awards 6-8 pm
• May 11th- Senior Grades Lock
• May 16th at 7pm - Senior Award Night
• May 17th - Senior Walk 8:15 am graduation/practice at 9:00 am
